Mother of Four Murdered in Bordeaux Suburb; Ex-Husband Arrested in Domestic Violence Case

The man, actively sought after the discovery of his wife’s body riddled with knife wounds on Monday afternoon in Lormont, in the suburbs of Bordeaux (Gironde), was finally arrested and taken into custody.
Despite numerous awareness campaigns, domestic violence continues to make headlines. On Monday afternoon, the body of Safia M., a mother, was found by the emergency services who had been alerted by the neighborhood.
The couple lived on the 2nd floor of a 12-story residence in the working-class Grand Parc neighborhood. Once the emergency services arrived on the scene, they found that the victim had knife wounds to the neck and had a knife stuck in her chest, according to information published by Le Parisien.
According to the newspaper, it was at the home of an acquaintance who was sheltering him that the husband was found and questioned about the murder of his wife. He denies having attacked her.
But, Le Parisien writes that the couple had separated in July 2017 and a complaint had been filed in 2019 for violence committed by her ex-spouse and resulting in incapacity for work of less than or equal to eight days.
Safia dies at the age of 32 and leaves four children aged 2, 4, 9 and 11, who have been placed in safety on the decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
