Domestic Violence Tragedy: French Woman Found Dead, Husband Sought by Police

After the discovery, on Monday, September 16 in the morning, of the body of Chafia Ben Chérif, her husband is actively sought by the police. According to the testimonies of the neighbors, the victim was frequently beaten by her husband.
Indeed, the gendarmes had intervened twice at the couple’s home for domestic violence. The husband had even been placed in custody despite the absence of a complaint from the victim.
It was this Monday, September 16 in the morning that the members of the association in which the victim was doing volunteer work raised the alert. This is how the gendarmes entered an apartment located at 2 rue de Bretagne in the "Maroc" district in Creutzwald, and discovered the horror: the body of the 53-year-old woman lying on the ground and presenting numerous wounds.
According to L’est républicain, the victim’s husband, aged 66, as well as her 15-year-old son, remained untraceable. An investigation was opened by the public prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the Research Section of the Metz gendarmerie. The husband would be suspected of being the perpetrator of this odious crime.
Several people said the victim was the victim of domestic violence. "Regularly, she screamed, she called for help. Sometimes even in the middle of the night. We would call the gendarmes, but we had the impression of being the only ones to do so...", many people said, not ruling out the possibility that the husband is guilty of the murder of his wife.
