New Mosque in Lieusaint Opens, Accommodating 600 Worshippers Near City Center

In Seine-et-Marne, a new mosque is welcoming Muslims in Lieusaint. A project matured by the Amicale des Musulmans de Lieusaint (AML) for 14 years, whose inauguration was effective on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
The premises that only accommodated about forty worshippers have given way to a mosque built on an area of 270 m², capable of accommodating nearly 600 worshippers. The place of worship is located in the city center, 200 meters from the town hall, reports SaphirNews. An amount of 1.5 million euros was mobilized for its construction. "This mosque fits elegantly and soberly into our city center, just steps from the church. A whole symbol, that of a successful secularism that allows, in respect of differences," welcomed the (PS) mayor Michel Bisson, present on Saturday at the inauguration of the place of worship. "I wish this holy place, in paraphrasing the immense poetess Al-Khansa, magnificence, virtue, liberality and overflowing generosity."
"This construction located in the city center was the subject of consultation with the neighboring residents and the town hall. Notably, no appeal has been filed. To live well together, we spare ourselves many hassles," said Olivier Faure, first secretary of the PS and deputy of Seine-et-Marne, on his social networks. Also, he congratulated the AML, led by Aziz Nakhil, for the realization of this project. "Each shared during this event the desire to get out of prejudices to live together in respect of the values, principles and laws of our Republic. Bravo therefore to the designers for this successful architectural project that will allow our Muslim fellow citizens to practice their religion in the best conditions."
Before its inauguration, the new Lieusaint mosque had opened its doors to worshippers shortly before the start of the month of Ramadan.
