Agen Mosque Targeted Again with Islamophobic Graffiti, Officials Condemn Attack

Tags were discovered, once again, last Sunday on the facade of the Agen mosque. Unfortunately, this place of worship had already been targeted in the past.
"A mosque that promotes the values of the Republic and participates in living together, but unfortunately often targeted by this type of degradation. The Muslim community of Agen is saddened by these repetitive, disrespectful and incivic acts," said Mohamed Nayma, the imam of the mosque.
The prefecture of Lot-et-Garonne "firmly" condemned "these degradations and odious acts committed against the Agen mosque, in total contradiction with the values of the Republic and the freedom of worship." An investigation has been opened and a complaint has been filed against unknown persons.
The Agen mosque had been the target of tags and vandalism in June and July 2021. Among the inscriptions found were a male sex organ, a middle finger, and a swastika. Inscriptions that had aroused the indignation of Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.
