Morocco’s Ziyech Turns to Cupping Therapy Ahead of AFCON Match

Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech appeared during the Moroccan team’s training sessions in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire, with marks on his thigh, revealing that he is a follower of hijama or "cupping therapy".
Ziyech apparently resorted to hijama before taking the field this Wednesday against Tanzania in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Moroccan striker is certainly not the first Atlas Lion to undergo this therapy. Similar marks had been seen on the thighs of midfielder Sofyan Amrabat during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Hijama, also called "cupping therapy", is a very popular relaxation technique among athletes. Karim Benzema, for example, is a big fan of it. It helps relieve certain chronic pains and eliminate toxic substances from the body. The therapy aims to improve blood circulation and enhance performance.
We hope that the hijama has been beneficial for Hakim Ziyech and that he will be in good shape for Wednesday’s match against Tanzania, as part of the first day of the Africa Cup of Nations. The match is scheduled for 6 pm at the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro.
