Morocco’s World Cup Semi-Finalists Prepare in Seclusion for Africa Cup of Nations

Morocco’s coach, Walid Regragui, organized a training session in San Pedro away from the press. This is the team - semi-finalist of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar - that the other 23 teams participating in the 2024 CAN Côte d’Ivoire are trying to beat.
The Atlas Lions are preparing for their friendly match against Sierra Leone scheduled for Thursday at the San Pedro stadium. They trained on Monday without Amine Adli who is attending the funeral of his mother in Meknes and Noussair Mazraoui who is following a special rehabilitation program. Hakim Ziyech and Romain Saïss were also absent from the training session. Their return to training will be gradual.
The technical and medical staff of the Moroccan team are counting on the participation of injured or uncompetitive players and those returning from injury, especially since the major continental competition is only a few days away and they are doing a colossal job in this regard. Unusual fact: this training session was closed to the press.
The Moroccan team delegation arrived in Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday via a flight from Rabat-Salé airport to Abidjan. From Abidjan, they took another flight to San Pedro. A special security team arrived in this Ivorian city of San Pedro to protect the Moroccan team and the hotel where they are staying.
