Morocco’s World Cup Qualifier Squad: Saïss Returns, Harit Omitted

The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, unveiled this Tuesday his list of players called up for the matches against Zambia and Congo, scheduled for June 7 and 11 as part of the third and fourth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The captain of the Atlas Lions, Romain Saïss, is making his return.
Excluded since March, Romain Saïss is on Regragui’s list for the matches against Zambia and Congo, made public this Tuesday, May 28. On the other hand, the Moroccan coach did not call up Amine Harit for these matches, due to the drop in form of the attacking midfielder who did not shine this season at Olympique de Marseille. The coach of the Atlas Lions has summoned the majority of the players who played the friendly matches against Angola (1-0) and Mauritania (0-0) last March.
In the context of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers which will take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Morocco shares group E with Tanzania, Zambia, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Atlas Lions won against Tanzania (2-0) on November 21, in the second round. Achraf Hakimi and his teammates face Zambia on June 7 at home, and the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 11 in Brazzaville, for the third and fourth rounds.
