Morocco’s World Cup Hopes in Jeopardy as Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou Suffers Injury

Moroccan international Yassine Bounou was injured on Sunday, September 18, during the match between FC Seville and Villarreal (1-1) as part of the 6th round of La Liga.
Bad news for FC Seville, but also for the Atlas Lions who are actively preparing their participation in the 2022 World Cup. Yassine Bounou did not go all the way in the match between FC Seville and Villarreal on Sunday. The goalkeeper left the game in the 46th minute, due to a right quadriceps injury. He thus joins the list of injured players, uncertain to participate in the 2022 World Cup.
An injury that could prevent him from participating in the two matches scheduled for the Atlas Lions against Chile and Paraguay, on September 23 and 27. For now, no information has been given on the severity of Yassine Bounou’s injury and the time it might take for him to recover.
