Morocco World Cup Hopes Dashed as Ziyech and Mazraoui Reject National Team Return

Mohamed Maqrouf, advisor to the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, reacted to the refusal of Hakim Ziyech and Noussair Mazraoui to join the national team for the World Cup qualifying playoffs.
Invited on 2M, the official indicated that President Fouzi Lekjaâ had attempted mediation to resolve the conflict between, on the one hand, Ziyech and Mazraoui and, on the other hand, Vahid Halilhodzic, but ultimately the two players refused to return to the national team.
"We cannot deny the great potential that the two players have. But the decision ultimately rests with the coach. There was indeed a conflict between Vahid and the two players: Mazraoui and Ziyech. We tried a reconciliation between the two parties," he specified.
And to add: "Vahid sent them the call-up. But the two players refused to join the Moroccan national team".
