Morocco’s World Cup Hero Lahmari Ready for Showdown with France

Anissa Lahmari has etched her name in the history of Moroccan women’s football by scoring the winning goal against Colombia (1-0) that propelled the Atlas Lionesses into the round of 16 of the World Cup. The player looks back on the euphoria of the qualification and talks about the team’s mindset before the clash against France on Tuesday.
The number 10 of the Moroccan team says she does not always "realize" being in the round of 16. Against Colombia, she and her teammates had a winning mentality. "To start a match without believing in it, that’s not the World Cup! The coach made it clear to us at the briefing, and we were all in agreement on the same goal: to win this match, to have a chance of qualifying. It turned in our favor, but we all believed in it," said Anissa Lahmari to So Foot.
The Moroccans are coming a long way, after a heavy defeat against Germany (0-6), double champions, in their first match in the tournament. "We quickly put this match behind us. We saw what we did well because there were good things, but also what we did less well and we worked on it. We just focused on the match against South Korea, that’s what made us recover quite quickly from this meeting," she explained.
The number 10 is proud to have score
