Morocco’s Women’s Team Faces Must-Win Battle Against DR Congo in AFCON Thriller

After their draw (2-2) against Zambia, the Moroccan women’s national team must win against the Democratic Republic of Congo this Wednesday to preserve their chances of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The preparation led by coach Jorge Vilda Rodríguez has therefore focused on correcting the errors of the first match. According to sports analyst Abderrahim Ouchrif, interviewed by the website Al3omk, the Moroccan performance was affected by an unsuitable psychological approach.
"Regarding the opening match, I think the national team took the field with the mentality of the winner and did not give enough importance to the opponent. This was clearly evident throughout the match, as the technical organization of the Zambian team disrupted our defense from the second minute, due to a mistake by the goalkeeper, which affected the performance of the national players," he detailed.
The analyst specifies that the performance of the opponent was a determining factor. "The Zambian team was not an easy opponent, it was even close to scoring three more goals. It showed great organization, which clearly reduced the danger posed by our national team. Despite this, our selection managed to equalize thanks to long-range shots, an option that also led to the second goal in the final minutes of the match."
This situation makes the victory imperative, especially in view of the last day of the group stage. "Now the team has no choice but to win the next match against the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially given the difficulty of the third match against Senegal, which showed a very good level in its opening match," continued Mr. Ouchrif.
He insists on the strategic importance of this match. "Any misstep by Senegal against Zambia could complicate the calculations, which is why Jorge Vilda must absolutely win the next match in order to approach the match against Senegal with serenity, and progress as far as possible in this CAN, which is played on our soil and which we must win."
The match will be held this Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Moroccan time, on the pitch of the beautiful Olympic stadium in Rabat.
