Morocco Women’s Soccer Team Soars 14 Spots in FIFA Rankings After World Cup Success

After their historic qualification for the round of 16 of the Women’s World Cup, the Atlas Lionesses climb 14 places in the latest FIFA ranking, the best progression worldwide.
Published on Friday, August 25, this new ranking shows a progression of 104.22 points for the Moroccan team (1,438.30 points) and a gain of 14 places to reach 58th place in the world.
On the top 10 side, Spain, which has gained four places, is now in second position. It was the 4-0 defeat against Japan that prevented the Spaniards from taking the lead in the ranking. It is ultimately Sweden that takes first place, relegating the United States to third position.
The ranking has also seen other changes: the Australians leave the Top 10, Japan climbs back to eighth place and Canada, after an early exit from the competition, falls to tenth place. As for Germany, it drops to sixth place after an unexpected elimination in the first round.
At the Maghreb level, Algeria is in 80th place, while Tunisia is ranked 76th in the world.
