Morocco’s Women’s Soccer Team Receives Hero’s Welcome After Historic World Cup Run

The Atlas Lionesses were welcomed as heroines on Thursday at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, after a historic participation in the Women’s World Cup.
A crowd of men and women, young and old, gathered around the airport to celebrate the players. The Moroccan delegation was received by the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa, and other members of the executive committee.
The Moroccan team, the first Arab nation to play in the Women’s World Cup and reach the second round, has inspired admiration. With two consecutive victories against South Korea and Colombia, the Moroccan players obtained six points in three matches, allowing them to qualify for the round of 16. Their journey, which ended in the round of 16 against France, was marked by their determination and courage.
This success of Moroccan women’s football also symbolizes the country’s commitment to sport. It testifies to the work carried out for many years by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
