Morocco welcomes a ship carrying arms for Israel, Spain refuses

Morocco has authorized the Maersk Denver, an Israeli container ship carrying arms from the United States, to call at the port of Tanger Med 2. The Israeli ship had been denied a stopover in Algeciras.
After the Spanish authorities refused to allow the Maersk Denver to make a stopover at the Juan Carlos I terminal of APM in the port of Algeciras on Saturday, the Israeli ship docked on Friday at the port of Tanger Med 2 in Morocco, informs Europa Sur. The Maersk Denver left the Newark-Elizabeth maritime terminal, between New York and New Jersey, on October 31, the same source specifies.
The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the government refused the stopover of this ship after finding that it was transporting military equipment destined for Israel. A second ship, the Maersk Seletar, which left New York on November 4, is also expected in Algeciras on the 14th of this month. For the moment, this ship has not communicated its destination.
According to an investigation by the Progressive International and the Palestinian Youth Movement, at least 25 ships carrying 1,185 arms shipments of over 13,000 tons from the United States to Israel have called at the port of Algeciras between May and September 2024. Registered in the name of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, these shipments include armored vehicles, projectiles and various military equipment, it is specified.
"Not to act and allow the arrival of ships that may carry arms to support a violation of human rights and genocide, as evidenced by the resolutions of January 26, March 28 and May 24, 2024 of the International Court of Justice, is intolerable," said the left-wing party Sumar. To recall, the Spanish government had refused in May the stopover in Cartagena (Murcia) of a ship loaded with 26.8 tons of explosives from Madras (India) to Haifa (Israel).
