Morocco’s Wedding Industry Faces Crisis as Traditional Celebrations Decline

In Morocco, the attendance of wedding halls has dropped considerably this summer to the point of worrying several managers.
Is the end of traditional wedding halls coming? According to the owners, these halls are experiencing a spectacular drop in attendance this summer. The number of parties and weddings has seen a major decline this summer, causing a stagnation in the field of event organization and associated services that provide thousands of jobs, reports the website Rue20. To solve this problem, the owners of these halls have reduced prices. A solution that has proven ineffective, as demand remains low compared to previous years.
The reasons for this disaffection of the halls are multiple. Professionals point to a lack of interest in marriage, but also the rise in prices of wedding services and supplies that weigh heavily on Moroccan families, especially those with limited incomes. Another major cause: some owners have transformed their villas into party halls for prices not exceeding 5,000 dirhams. Now, there is a rush towards this new type of hall to the detriment of traditional halls, characterized by their large size and high prices.
The owners of the traditional halls are now renting for various events in an attempt to stem the crisis.
