Morocco Warns of Potential Covid-19 Surge as Preventive Measures Relax

Morocco is not immune to a new wave of Covid-19 contamination, despite the improvement in the epidemiological situation and the decline in deaths and cases admitted to intensive care, warned the researcher at the Faculty of Medicine in Rabat, Khalid Fathi, calling for extreme vigilance.
A new wave of Covid-19 contamination remains theoretically possible, the expert warned, on RIM RADIO, deploring the relaxation recently observed in compliance with preventive measures, particularly the wearing of masks and social distancing.
Two scenarios are envisaged, according to Khalid Fathi. The first, he explains, is a new wave as was the case in several countries. "This relaxation could also contribute to natural immunity, which will be added to the immunity acquired through vaccination," he continued, explaining that this last scenario will make it possible to control the health situation.
The Moroccan researcher said he was satisfied with the "proactive and unprecedented" management of the vaccination campaign which has allowed more than 8 million people to be fully vaccinated to date. He did not fail to salute the involvement of Moroccan skills and the mobilization of doctors and nurses, for the success of this stage, noting that Morocco is now emerging as a model at the continental, Arab and even international levels.
