Morocco Eases Curfew, Health Expert Urges Continued COVID Precautions

For Morocco to truly resume normal life, barrier gestures must be scrupulously respected. Any relaxation could undo the efforts made so far by the country.
Reacting to the government’s decision to ease the night curfew, physician and researcher in health policies and systems, Tayeb Hamdi, emphasized the need to respect barrier gestures, warning that any irresponsible and inappropriate behavior could cancel out the efforts already made and impact the economic recovery and the long-awaited resumption of normal life.
For the resumption of air travel and the reopening of Moroccan borders, the expert felt that the current epidemiological situation in the kingdom does not allow any "risky decision", due to the emergence of new variants of the Coronavirus and the extent of the epidemic situation in certain countries, also recalling in his tweets the need to get vaccinated. In addition, Morocco could strengthen its health measures with certain destinations.
To recall, the Moroccan government recently decided, thanks to the recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Committee, to prohibit all night travel in the country between 11:00 p.m. and 4:30 a.m., starting Friday, May 21, 2021. Measures have also been put in place to enforce this decision, which takes into account the closure of businesses, restaurants and cafes at 11:00 p.m. In addition, the other precautionary measures concerning parties, gatherings, demonstrations, cinemas and funerals are still in force and must be strictly respected.
