Morocco’s Vehicle Inspection Centers See Surge in Demand After Lockdown

The activities of the technical inspection centers (CVT) have resumed for the past two months to the great satisfaction of the operators. According to the management of Dekra Automotive Morocco, a subsidiary of the German group, about 60% of the cars that could not undergo their technical inspection during the lockdown have been processed.
In total, 800,000 vehicles had not been processed during the lockdown. "By the end of September, we think that 100% of the late vehicles will have undergone their technical inspection. Nevertheless, we are seeing delays in vehicles arriving due for mid-June to mid-August. This delay is likely to be absorbed beyond the end of September for some vehicles," says Xavier Landouer, CEO of Dekra Automotive Morocco, to L’Économiste.
In addition to the backlog generated by the lockdown, operators are facing ever-increasing demand. This is why Narsa has decided to grant an additional deadline to owners of vehicles with a total authorized laden weight of less than 3.5 tons for the renewal or completion of the technical inspection. This deadline expires on August 31st. Note that only vehicles with a periodic technical inspection report that expired on March 18th or are subject to the first technical inspection from that date are concerned.
