Morocco’s Vehicle Fleet More Than Doubles in 16 Years, Surpassing 4.3 Million

The vehicle fleet has seen a marked increase between 2002 and 2018, going from 1.81 million vehicles to more than 4.3 million, all categories combined, more than double.
The passenger car fleet has grown from 1.33 million vehicles in 2002 to 2.95 million vehicles in 2018, representing an average annual growth rate of 4.8%. As for the utility vehicle fleet, the number of vehicles has increased from 0.46 to nearly 1.2 million over this period, an average annual growth rate of 6%.
Since October 30, 2015, the obligation to register mopeds, motorcycles, motor tricycles and motor quadricycles has intensified activities in the technical inspection centers. As a result, the registered fleet has grown from 43,000 at the end of 2015 to nearly 192,000 at the end of 2018.
