Morocco’s Vaccine Pass Requirement Complicates International Travel for Citizens

While some countries like Spain no longer require a vaccination certificate to enter their territory, the vaccine pass is still mandatory to leave or enter Morocco. A restriction that hinders travel abroad.
Many Moroccans are having trouble traveling abroad for their summer vacation. And for good reason, the vaccine pass is still mandatory to leave the kingdom or enter it, while only 18.6% of Moroccan citizens have received the three doses and therefore have a valid pass. "I had to show the vaccine pass both to the airline staff and to the border police," says Saad, 29, who just returned to Morocco after a short stay in France. Same story with Ghizlane, a student who left the kingdom in August to continue her studies in Germany.
The control of the vaccine pass is limited to the examination of the document without validity check using the "Check Vax" application, set up for this purpose by the government, say the people interviewed. Also questioned on the subject, an authorized source from the National Airports Office confirms that the vaccine pass is still mandatory to leave Moroccan territory. In other words, all Moroccan travelers wishing to leave the kingdom must be fully vaccinated.
