Morocco Urges Expats in Spain to Follow COVID-19 Measures, Avoid Unnecessary Travel

The Moroccan embassy in Madrid addressed, on Saturday, March 14, Moroccans residing in Spain. It called on them to respect the instructions and decisions of the authorities of the country. This will help curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
"As part of the measures taken to limit the spread of the new coronavirus, guarantee the protection of the health of the Moroccan community residing in Spain, and ensure compliance with the instructions and decisions of the Spanish authorities, the Moroccan embassy urges Moroccan nationals to go to the general consulates of the kingdom only in case of need or emergency," the embassy said in a statement.
It called on members of the Moroccan community in Spain to respect these recommendations, as well as the instructions and decisions of the Spanish authorities, and to contact the relevant consular services if necessary. It will specify that the working hours in the general consulates of the kingdom in Spain will be adjusted, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (local time).
Moreover, access to the headquarters of the consulates will only be authorized for the beneficiaries of their services, who will be divided into groups of a maximum of ten people, as part of the implementation of the prevention measures in force.
In addition, the Moroccan embassy in Spain advises Moroccans Residing Abroad not to go through the port of Algeciras to reach Morocco, as the borders are closed until further notice.
