Morocco Urges Dialogue Amid Escalating US-Iran Tensions

Morocco has reacted to the Iran-US crisis and proposed resolving the situation through political dialogue, given the scale the conflict could take.
Concerned by the strong retaliation that could occur in the aftermath of the assassination of Iranian general Soleimani, the major international powers, namely France, England, Russia and China, have called on the parties to remain calm and restrained.
In Morocco, the government spokesperson, Hassan Abyaba, reiterated the Kingdom’s position on the Iran-US crisis. According to the minister, as the situation in the region is not clear, the kingdom cannot take a position on this issue at the moment. To this end, the government favors dialogue and calls for a political process in which the countries concerned must participate.
The Islamic Republic’s emissary in Iraq, General Kacem Soleimani, was targeted by an air raid. This American strike came 3 days after an attack on the US embassy in Iraq.
