Morocco Updates Travel Requirements: New Vaccine and Testing Rules for International Visitors

Morocco updated, on Monday, July 12, the health provisions for international travel. The Ministry of Health specifies the measures to be observed for Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) and foreign tourists from countries on lists A and B. Not to mention the common measures and the list of vaccines accepted in the kingdom.

Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) and foreign tourists from countries on list A must present a certificate proving that they are fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines accepted in Morocco - Astrazeneca-SK Bio, Sinopharm, Sputnik, Pfizer/BioNTech, Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), Covishield (Serum Institute of India), Moderna and Sinovac, specifies the Minister of Health. Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated travelers must present a negative PCR test dated less than 72 hours (time between sampling and boarding).

As for travelers from countries on list B, fully vaccinated persons are required to produce a certificate proving that they have been fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines accepted in Morocco and to present a negative PCR test dated less than 48 hours (time between sampling and boarding). As for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated persons, they must present a negative PCR test dated less than 48 hours (time between sampling and boarding) and observe a controlled 10-day quarantine, at the expense of the person concerned in one of the structures previously designated by the local authorities, with a control PCR test on the 9th day.

Moroccan citizens or persons of Moroccan origin, coming from countries on list B, will observe a self-isolation at home for 5 days, and carry out a screening test (rapid antigen or PCR) on the 5th day. The common measures concern a passenger health form, to be downloaded online before boarding (also distributed on board the aircraft or ship), duly completed, including the passenger’s address and two telephone numbers to locate him, if necessary, during the 10 days following his arrival on national territory, specifies the document from the Ministry of Health.

These measures also include compliance with the health measures issued in Morocco in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus and its variants: wearing a mask outdoors, physical distancing and hand hygiene. Children under 11 years of age are exempt from the PCR screening test regardless of origin, the ministry also informs.
