Morocco to Launch New Casablanca-Béni Mellal Railway Line Construction

The launch of the construction work of a new railway line connecting Casablanca to Béni Mellal via Khouribga is imminent, according to the local authorities of the province of Béni Mellal.
This announcement was made on the sidelines of a meeting between the Wali of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, Khatib El Hebil, and the Director General of the National Railway Office (ONCF).
The meeting, which also saw the participation of the President of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, the Governor of the Khouribga province, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region and the President of the Béni Mellal commune, was an opportunity to review the various proposed routes for the Khouribga-Béni Mellal rail project, as well as its financial cost.
The different proposals resulting from the preliminary studies were discussed and examined, taking into account all the aspects and factors likely to contribute to the efficiency of the realization of this large-scale project for the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region.
At the end of this meeting, the two parties agreed on the imminent launch of the construction work of this railway line considered strategic. The new railway line should open up the region and facilitate the mobility of the population, while stimulating economic activity and creating new jobs.
