Morocco Unveils Plan to Revive Tourism Sector Amid Pandemic Recovery

The revival of the tourism sector remains a priority for the Moroccan authorities. It holds a prominent place in the 2nd phase of the "plan to ease the health confinement" initiated on June 24 through a series of measures to inject new momentum into the sector.
It was during a meeting on Friday with industry professionals that the Minister of the Interior detailed the plan to revitalize tourism in Morocco. Abdelouafi Laftit specified that it is "the resumption of domestic tourist activity, the reopening of tourist establishments, the resumption of domestic flights, the opening of beaches, the resumption of travel between the areas of easing 1 and the resumption of intercity public rail and road transport".
To all these measures is added the latest decision according to which "Moroccan citizens as well as foreign residents in the Kingdom and their families will be able to access the national territory, from July 14, 2020 at midnight by air and sea".
Mixed local commissions have been set up to "raise awareness of the importance of respecting preventive health measures, in order to avoid the appearance of ’tourist hotspots’", it is specified.
