Morocco Reopens Tourism, Welcomes Expats Home Starting July 15

After more than three months of inactivity, Moroccan tourism is resuming for the delight of professionals in the sector. This is the decision made by the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, following a meeting held on Friday in Rabat on the resumption of tourism activities and the preparation of the return of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) to the country as of July 15.
This decision follows the one authorizing Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) to come on vacation to Morocco as of July 15 via Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flights and ferries departing from Sète, in southern France, and Genoa, in Italy. The government has already released the hotels requisitioned for the needs of the fight against covid-19.
In the eyes of Abdelouafi Laftit, the return of MREs to the country is an "important opportunity for the promotion of tourism." For this, "we also count on domestic tourism," he said. According to him, the resumption of tourism activity is a "difficult test." This is why the Minister of the Interior calls on the players to "fully commit themselves to preserving the health of customers and that of the staff."
