Morocco Unveils Economic Relief Measures: 2,000 Dirham Unemployment Benefit Proposed

At the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a meeting was held on Wednesday, March 18 at 2 p.m., in the presence of the Director of the Treasury and Finance, Fouzi Lekjaa, the Director of the Budget, Zazou Khalad, and members of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.
At the end of the meeting, a series of measures were adopted in favor of employees and businesses. Among these provisions:
• Payment of a 2,000 dirham allowance for job loss, in addition to family allowances.
• Coverage of CNSS contributions for companies that maintain 80% or more of employment
• Deferred CNSS payments for companies that maintain less than 20% of employment
• Pro rata treatment for companies between 20 and 80%, knowing that CNSS charges are taken into account from March 15, 2020.
On the other hand, several decisions on the tax front do not seem to have taken shape, the Directorate General of Taxes having to do its accounts before presenting its plan on Thursday, March 19 at 3 p.m.
At first glance, the March 31 deadline should likely be postponed for all businesses, apart from the 1% that pay 80% of the tax. For this, the new deadline would be 15 days after the end of the alert.
