Morocco Unveils $1 Billion Plan for Africa’s Largest Desalination Plant in Casablanca

The details are taking shape for the realization of the largest seawater desalination plant in Casablanca. This is at least the assurance given by the Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara to the House of Advisors.
The minister was responding to a question from the majority and opposition groups on "the measures taken to address the water shortage. He stated that the steps and procedural stages have been initiated for the realization of the seawater desalination project for the city of Casablanca with a treatment capacity of approximately 300 million m3 of water.
With a budget envelope of 10 billion dirhams, this station, said Mr. Amara, is intended to be the largest on the continent.
