Morocco Unveils Ambitious Plan to Boost Tourism, Targeting 26 Million Visitors by 2030

Slowly but surely, Morocco is taking a big step towards the realization of its ambition to welcome 26 million visitors by 2030, with an intermediate objective of 17.5 million tourists and the creation of 200,000 jobs by 2026.
Moroccan tourism has a bright future ahead of it. From the innovative approach adopted to develop the strategic roadmap for the tourism sector for the 2023-2026 period, which places the tourist at the heart of the experience, with nine thematic sectors designed to offer enriching experiences to the modernization of infrastructures, the improvement of air connectivity, investments in tourism and entertainment, as well as the training of qualified human resources, Moroccan tourism is embarking on a new turn, reports the magazine L’Observateur du Maroc et d’Afrique.
This Moroccan tourism strategy is bearing fruit. In 2023, Morocco welcomed 14.5 million tourists, an increase of 34% compared to 2022, allowing the country to move from 34th place worldwide in 2019 to 22nd place in 2023. The kingdom is even close to reaching its goal of one million additional tourists for 2024: already 909,000 additional visitors welcomed in just six months. 7.4 million visitors have set foot on Moroccan soil by the end of 2024, an increase of 14% compared to 2023 and a spectacular leap of 38% compared to 2019, according to the Ministry of Tourism. All in all, the Moroccan tourism strategy is on track.
