Morocco Unveils $600 Million Rescue Package for Royal Air Maroc

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Benchaâboun, provided more details on Tuesday on the amount of 6 billion dirhams that the government intends to make available to Royal Air Maroc (RAM).
According to the minister, the government will grant RAM 60% of the financial support for its rescue plan, i.e. 3.6 billion dirhams in the form of public capital injections (capital increase) and 2.4 billion dirhams (40% of the total) in the form of state-guaranteed loans.
"The company’s management has presented a plan with financing needs in debt and capital. It has received the government’s approval subject to compliance with the commitments of this plan," explained Mohamed Benchaâboun. According to him, the government’s support will be progressive. The government’s support will be made as the objectives set in the rescue plan are achieved, the monitoring of which will be ensured by a steering committee, assured the minister.
