Morocco’s Unbeaten Streak Masks Offensive Struggles
The Moroccan football team won 1-0 against Bahrain in a friendly match on Thursday. Despite this fifteenth consecutive victory, the Atlas Lions are struggling to convince in terms of their offensive efficiency. Sports analyst Abderrahim Ouchrif calls on national coach Walid Regragui to quickly correct the shot before the next matches.
This hard-fought victory obtained on Thursday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat against Bahrain is far from reassuring the informed observers. "What was positive in the friendly match against Bahrain was the result, namely the victory and the achievement of 15 consecutive victories. However, all those who followed the match were not satisfied with the performance. We played against an ordinary team, while we will face stronger opponents in the future," said sports analyst Abderrahim Ouchrif to Al3omk.
"The match showed that the Bahraini team was well organized, but weak in the offensive transition. And if they had better mastered this aspect, we would have lost the match. The next African competitions will be more challenging in this respect, so we must consider this match as a lesson to be learned, particularly from a defensive point of view, and find solutions for offensive transitions and concentration in front of the goal," he analyzed. According to Ouchrif, Bahrain managed to close the corridors to prevent the crosses, thus highlighting the limits of the Moroccan attack.
Ouchrif urges Walid Regragui to quickly find a solution to this situation. "Coach Regragui must solve this problem and exploit the players in the best offensive way possible, in order to focus in front of the goal and obtain a more comfortable victory," the analyst exhorted, insisting on the urgency of the situation: "The Moroccan national team has a remarkable human workforce, but our problem lies in the performance and in the search for means to facilitate access to the goal against all opponents, in order to avoid solid defensive organizations. And if the performance remains at this level, it will be difficult to win the Africa Cup of Nations in this way."
The Atlas Lions will challenge the Congolese team next Tuesday at 8:00 pm at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex in Rabat, as part of the last round of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers.
