Morocco’s U20 Women’s Soccer Team Exits World Cup After Loss to Spain

The Moroccan under-20 women’s national team has seen its world dream extinguished. Beaten by Spain (0-2) on Saturday, the Lionesses were unable to qualify for the round of 16 of the World Cup currently taking place in Colombia.
This third and final group stage match, played in Cali, was marked by Spanish dominance. The Iberians, more experienced and efficient, opened the scoring as early as the 5th minute thanks to Nahia Aparicio Jaular before sealing the fate of the match in the very end of the game through Lucía Moral Ruiz.
The Moroccans, despite good resistance, were unable to find the breakthrough against a well-organized and very solid Spanish defense. The Moroccan goalkeeper, Fatima El Jebraoui, nevertheless shone by repelling a penalty in the second half.
This elimination puts an end to Morocco’s first participation in this world competition. The Lionesses had already suffered two defeats in the first matches against Paraguay and the United States.
In the other groups, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany and Nigeria have already qualified for the round of 16. The fate of the other teams, particularly those who finished third in their group, will be determined in the coming days based on goal difference.
