Morocco U20 Holds Algeria to Draw, Edges Closer to AFCON Qualification

The Atlas Lions U20 have taken a big step towards qualifying for the 2024 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (U20 AFCON). After their draw (1-1) against Algeria in the UNAF U20 tournament, the Moroccan players find themselves at the top of the North zone, synonymous with qualification for the AFCON.
The match, played in an electric atmosphere, saw the two teams neutralize each other. Despite Moroccan dominance and numerous goal-scoring opportunities, the two teams lacked efficiency in front of the opposing goal. Algeria, who had taken the lead, saw Morocco equalize at the end of the second half. The Fennecs even had the opportunity to take the lead on a penalty, but the Moroccan goalkeeper preserved the score.
Before this draw, the protégés of Mohamed Ouahbi had achieved a flawless run. They won their first two matches against Egypt (host country) and Tunisia by the same score of 2-1. A final match against Libya on November 23 could validate their ticket for the U20 AFCON. The Atlas Lions U20 therefore have their destiny in their own hands.
