Morocco Travel Surge: Transavia Sees 900% Spike in Bookings After Border Reopening

Three days after the reopening of national air borders, the low-cost airline Transavia is experiencing a resurgence of activity, resulting in an explosion of bookings to Morocco. They have gone from 500 in January to nearly 5,000 in the last three days.
In an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro, Nicolas Henin, Deputy Managing Director of Commercial at Transavia, said that the announcement of the authorization of international travel had an immediate effect on bookings to Morocco.
To meet the demand, the company has had to increase flights, from the day of the opening. "We knew there was a wait and frustrated travel desires that were just waiting to be expressed. This phenomenon manifested itself throughout the year: in January, we counted between 400 and 500 daily bookings to Morocco. Since the announcement, we have counted between 4,000 and 5,000," he specified.
Faced with this explosion in demand, the company plans to add two new destinations as early as April, namely Oujda and Fès, from Nantes Atlantique airport, announced Nicolas Hénin, adding that "the demand for travel to Morocco will accelerate", provided that the health crisis does not worsen.
As for the most popular destinations for the French, Marrakech is, unsurprisingly, in the lead. "It is our biggest destination for us," confirms Nicolas Hénin, who specifies that "from the February holidays, two daily flights will be available to this destination, and four will be from this summer". After the ochre city, we find Agadir, "a traditional destination, which is also very well restarted". Then come "Casablanca and Essaouira".
