Morocco Travel Disrupted as Airlines Face Staff Shortages and Strikes

While demand is very strong for the summer season, many companies continue to cancel flights to destinations like Morocco due to a lack of flight crew and strikes by employees.
Travelers are fearful of not being able to go on vacation this summer. The lack of flight crew and the strike of employees are forcing airlines to cancel many flights. The wave of layoffs caused by the Covid-19 pandemic is at the origin of the lack of staff. To solve this major problem, the companies are recruiting, but it takes time for the new staff to become operational, as the training is too long. As for the strike of employees, the latest one is that observed by Ryanair employees on Friday, June 24.
Meanwhile, airlines are facing a surge of passengers for the summer season. "They have so many customers that they can no longer handle them. In reality, we are breaking records to certain destinations, for example Morocco," describes Xavier Tytelman, an aviation consultant at Air et cosmos.
