Morocco Tourism Surges: Holiday Bookings Soar to Pre-Pandemic Levels

After two years of health restrictions related to Covid-19, hotels are recording very strong demand for the end-of-year holidays. Bookings are exploding and professionals hope to reach pre-Covid figures.
Many tourists have started booking for the end-of-year holidays in Morocco, reports Les Inspirations Eco, which expects a good period for the tourism sector. The reason is that for a few weeks now, hotel bookings have been exploding. The figures could beat the record of those in 2019, indicates the daily newspaper, citing Mustapha Amalik, secretary general of the Marrakech Hotel Industry Association (AIH).
The official said in an interview that "the tourism sector is well on its way to achieving its objectives as we approach the end of the year, considered the last high season." Even if it remains short, destinations like Marrakech are very popular during this period, he specified.
According to him, one of the criteria that argue in favor of the Moroccan destination is the diversification of offers as well as other specificities that do not exist with other competitors. Morocco can boast of many assets even though, all over the world, the tourism industry is on the verge of reaching its pre-pandemic level by the end of the year, he assured.
Moreover, a few days ago, Tourism Minister Fatim Zahra Ammor declared before the House of Advisors that the tourism recovery rate in Morocco reached 80% at the end of October last. Better, this rate is higher than the one achieved globally which stands at 70%. At the same time, tourism revenues have increased significantly in foreign currency, reaching 103% at the end of September, compared to pre-Covid, notes the daily.
