Morocco Tourism Soars: 12.3 Million Visitors in 2018, Marrakech and Agadir Lead Growth

A very good year for Morocco which welcomed some 12.3 million tourists in 2018, a strong increase compared to 2017.
The figures were unveiled today by the Tourism Observatory, which reports a very good performance of the kingdom’s historical markets with an 8% increase for France, 6% for Spain, 15% for Italy and 10% for German tourists.
The new data once again show the supremacy of the cities of Marrakech (10%) and Agadir (8%) which, together, generated 60% of the total number of tourist nights at the end of last December, according to the Observatory, which says that Fez ended the year with 16% more nights, Rabat 10% and Tangier 9%.
During the same period, the domestic consumption of tourists, including Moroccans Residing Abroad, totaled 131.7 billion dirhams, up 6% compared to 2017.
