Morocco’s Tourism Sector Eyes Winter Recovery Amid Pandemic Challenges

Moroccan tourism professionals are gearing up for the winter season starting November 1st. It’s time for reflection.
Despite a difficult summer season, tourism professionals remain hopeful. They want to face the winter season with a lot of optimism. "We have to think about a recovery of the sector while living with the pandemic and the virus, and above all restore confidence to international players who are waiting for a sign," says Fouzi Zemrani, vice-president of the National Confederation of Tourism.
Today, many countries are fighting the virus while managing the reopening of the tourism economy, confides an operator in Marrakech. On Tuesday, a remote meeting was organized between professionals and the Ministry of Tourism, reports L’Économiste. On the agenda of this meeting, the next tourist season.
In Morocco, the increase in Covid-19 contamination cases does not reassure much about an effective resumption of tourism activity. The Moroccan authorities have extended the state of health emergency until October 10th. The borders of the kingdom remain closed. But the easing of access to Morocco for foreign and professional visitors with a confirmed hotel booking seems to provide a breath of fresh air to the tourism sector.
Pending real visibility on the sector, tourism professionals are organizing to better take advantage of the winter season.
