Morocco’s Tourism Sector Anxious as Holiday Travel Restrictions Remain Uncertain

While some flights have been scheduled for Marrakech as early as December 19 for the end of year holidays, tourism professionals are still concerned. If here, many flights have been authorized, there the inter-regional movements are still prohibited, and elsewhere like Al Haouz and Essaouira, we are saddened not to be taken into account by the special end-of-year recovery program.
The main concern, indicates L’Économiste, is the conditions of travel and vacation, with the arrival tests that must be put in place, then the issue of easing travel conditions between the provinces of Marrakech, in particular, the Ourika valley or Oukaimeden, very popular with tourists. Yet, until last Sunday, travel to Ourika and Louka was prohibited.
Same concern at the level of Essaouira, another tourist attraction pole. "The city of the Trade Winds has been forgotten by this special air programming for the end of year holidays," observes the media, recalling the return of the airline EasyJet to Morocco, with a program of links from France to Marrakech, starting December 19.
On this date, the company will connect Marrakech from four French airports, namely Paris CDG, Bordeaux, Lyon and Nice with 29 rotations. This is far from satisfying the demand, notes the daily which recommends "working on other air bridges for the months of January and February, pending the opening of borders". In the same vein, the ONMT has negotiated a program of direct flights from several European countries with RAM starting December 15.
