Morocco Tourism Rebounds: Summer Hotel Occupancy Expected to Hit 80%

Strongly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Moroccan tourism should continue its recovery this year, according to the government, which expects a good summer season. According to forecasts, hotel occupancy rates in seaside destinations should approach 80%.
Speaking at the press conference following the meeting of the Council of Government held on Thursday, government spokesman Mustapha Baitas indicated that Moroccan tourism has regained its colors thanks to the opening of borders and the support measures of the executive. This improvement in the tourism economy will be observed as early as the summer of 2022.
According to the official, "the figures for tourism activity for the summer of 2022 are positive". According to government forecasts, "4.25 million tourists arriving by air are expected in the Kingdom". A tourist flow that will impact the hotel occupancy rate estimated for the next summer season at 80%.
Baitas stressed that the Ministry of Tourism has made efforts to mobilize 2 million overnight stays thanks to online bookings, 360,000 tourists thanks to traditional bookings, 4.25 million seats on flights to Morocco, in addition to forecasts concerning the "Marhaba" operation dedicated to Moroccans living abroad.
