Morocco’s Tourism Industry Calls for Expanded Financial Aid as Airspace Reopens

A few days before the reopening of Moroccan airspace and the resumption of international flights, the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) is asking that all sectors be entitled to the moratorium on bank maturities. Until now, only hoteliers and tourist carriers have been covered by this measure.
A moratorium on bank maturities. This is one of the aids proposed to the tourism sector by the emergency plan. Hoteliers and tourist carriers are the only beneficiaries. A few days before the reopening of Moroccan airspace, the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) is asking that travel agencies and restaurateurs also benefit from this measure.
"If the recovery is there, it will have to be done with our partners, the travel agencies and the restaurateurs who have been excluded from certain support measures," laments Hamid Bentahar, president of the CNT. "We need them to offer a complete product," he insists. According to the supervisory authority, another recovery plan this time will be announced and implemented as soon as international flights resume, L’Économiste reports.
The CNT says it is ready to resume activities. "We are ready to take up our pilgrim’s staff again, to work with our partners, to return to the field and to regain our market shares, provided that the opening decisions continue in continuity and that the State implements the promised support measures as soon as possible," says Hamid Bentahar.
