Morocco Tourism Hit as Israelis Cancel Trips Amid Hamas Attack Fallout

The reactions of some Moroccans following the surprise and spectacular attack by the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas against Israel have led many Israelis to cancel their trip to Morocco.
Moroccans, whose country currently chairs the Council of the Arab League at the ministerial level and King Mohammed VI is the president of the Al-Quds (Jerusalem in Arabic) committee, do not bargain their support for Palestine. Following the launch by Hamas, in power in Gaza, of a surprise offensive against Israel, of unprecedented magnitude, to "put an end to the crimes of the occupation", many Moroccans were seen in videos posted online burning the Israeli flag, reports JForum.fr. They also called for support for Hamas. These demonstrations have forced hundreds of Israelis who were about to travel to the kingdom as part of a trip to cancel their flights.
"How can we go to a country whose citizens burn the flags of the State of Israel in the streets of Morocco and support Hamas without the government lifting a finger to prevent it," said Amir, who canceled his flight to the kingdom. "How can we feel safe in a country like this?, he questioned. We decided to give up the vacation and stay alive. We don’t trust anyone, certainly not in an Arab country where the government encourages hatred towards Israel."
Hundreds of passengers did not think of taking out "trip cancellation" insurance. As a result, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for them to recover their money. "We didn’t think of taking out trip cancellation insurance, explains Benny. Who would have thought there would be such a disaster and that we would discover that the citizens of Morocco don’t really like us, to put it mildly. An expiation for the money."
This week, the national airline Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has suspended its AT228 flights from October 14 to 18 and AT229 flights from October 15 to 19, 2023 to and from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. It offers either a free ticket change within 15 days after the scheduled date or a full refund to accompany its affected customers.
