Morocco’s Tourism-Dependent Economy Faces Severe Impact from COVID-19 Pandemic

The American magazine "Foreign Policy" looked at the consequences of the current health crisis on the local African market, and particularly that of Morocco. According to it, this pandemic will have serious economic consequences on Morocco.
According to the American magazine, "countries dependent on tourism revenues like Morocco will suffer huge economic losses resulting from the direct consequences of the covid-19 pandemic". The same fate awaits countries that depend on the international trade system, because "covid-19 has already hit Nigeria and Angola hard, due to the collapse of oil prices on the international market". The temporary closure of ports in many African countries due to the coronavirus has contributed to worsening the economic situation.
Foreign Policy adds that the pandemic also threatens health systems, described as weak in Africa. They are not prepared to deal with epidemics and disasters. "Few countries will be able to generalize virus detection tests," the magazine pointed out as an example.
Another no less important aspect highlighted by the magazine is "the debt crisis looming on the horizon in fragile countries, due to poor governance in the management of the crisis internally". Managing the health crisis requires many sacrifices such as adjusting public budgets to increase the cost of care.
Foreign Policy doubts for the moment the ability of some African countries to contain the pandemic immediately and end the state of health emergency.
