Morocco Tops Winter Travel Destinations for French Tourists, Bookings Surge 40%

Morocco is in the top 3 of the most booked destinations this winter by the French. This is what emerges from the ranking of the Union of Tour Operating Companies (Seto).

Bookings are up compared to last winter. The booking rate for the winter of 2023-2024 (from November 1 to April 30) shows a 40% increase year-on-year for a turnover also up by 41.6%, reports Air Journal. However, these "very good prospects should be considered with caution in relation to any events that could disrupt the activity," nuances the Seto on the eve of the opening of the IFTM-Top Resa tourism trade fair in Paris. René-Marc Chikli, president of the union, notes "a strong return of Asia". "Thailand is taking off again and Indonesia too thanks to Bali" and "Japan is selling very well," he adds.

With a 25% increase in its bookings, Mauritius tops the number of travelers. It is followed by Egypt (+192%). Morocco (+65.8%) takes third place, while the Dominican Republic (-22%) takes fourth place. "The winter figures are surprising. People have decided to invest in travel. How long will this last?" wonders the president of Seto.

French tour operators also did good business during the summer. From May 1 to October 31, they saw their turnover increase by 27.7% (3.035 billion euros). At the top of the podium of medium-haul destinations this summer were Tunisia, Greece, the Balearic Islands and Morocco. Mauritius, the United States, the Dominican Republic and Canada topped the ranking of long-haul destinations.
