Morocco’s Top Three Parties Form Coalition to Lead Local Governments

The three parties that came out on top nationally - the RNI, the PAM and the Istiqlal - want to join forces to form coalitions to lead the various elected councils.
In a statement released this Friday morning, the three political parties announced their tripartite alliance, which will guide the election of the offices of the elected councils: regional councils, municipal councils and town halls.
This union is part of the concern to strengthen in this way the moralization of political life in full respect of the popular will expressed at the polls on September 8 last, the note specifies, adding that they hope through this decision to strengthen and bring more coherence and stability in the management of these councils.
New consultations are planned this weekend between the 3 parties of the governing coalition, in particular on the ministerial portfolios, the number of which should not exceed 24, and the issue of the presidency of the House of Representatives, which could go to Nizar Baraka.
Barring any unforeseen events, Aziz Akhannouch will have to announce the composition of the new government on Wednesday.
