Morocco’s Tomato Exports Surge 17% Despite Challenging Season

Morocco exported 608.6 million kilos of tomatoes this season, compared to 521.8 million kilos the previous season, an increase of around 17%.
Despite a difficult international context and an agricultural season marked by unfavorable weather conditions, Moroccan tomato exports reached a volume of 608.6 million kilos, compared to 521.8 million kilos the previous season (+17%), according to sources from the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture to Horto Info.

As for fruits and vegetables, Moroccan exports recorded an 11% growth as of June 13, 2022, with 1,418.6 million kilos exported. Citrus exports, for their part, reached a record volume of 735.4 million kilos, thus recording a growth of 42% compared to the previous season.

This upward trend in exports is noticeable across all citrus species. Thus, 628.6 million kilos of small citrus fruits were exported during the current season, an increase of nearly 40% compared to the previous season. As for orange exports (large fruits), they reached a volume of around 97.2 billion kilos, recording a growth of 62%.
