Morocco's Tiznit-Laâyoune Expressway: Progress Update on 340km Road Project

The axis in question extends over a distance of "340 km from Tiznit to Oued El Ouaer (Tan-Tan province), at an estimated cost of 3.4 billion dirhams". According to Yassine Zitoune, head of the northern works division, "the progress rate of the first section of this axis, from Tiznit to Sidi Ifni, has reached 41%, and that of the second section between Sidi Bounaâmen and Andja is 10%".

As for the other sections, which extend from Tan-Tan to the territory of the province of Laâyoune, "the work is progressing at a good pace to be delivered on time".

The Tiznit-Dakhla expressway project, according to the head of the works division, consists of two components, namely "the duplication of National Road No. 1 between Tiznit and Laâyoune, over 555 km, and the widening to 9m of the road between Laâyoune and Dakhla over a distance of 500 km".

This strategic project is part of the integrated development projects of the southern provinces planned by "the new development model launched by King Mohammed VI in Laâyoune on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Green March".
