Morocco Tightens Tax Oversight with Enhanced Business ID System

The tax authorities are strengthening the Common Business Identifier (ICE) system. The objective is to cross-check the turnover figures of taxpayers, in order to avoid underestimating turnover and eroding the tax base.
With the strengthening of the ICE system, the compliance check on the accuracy of the identifier is now carried out in real time, says L’Economiste. The same source specifies that the electronic platform of the tax administration, "Simpl" immediately proceeds to verify the accuracy of the ICE entered on the VAT deduction statement. The system is designed to automatically reject the deduction statement if an inaccurate identifier is entered.
The verification of the ICE is done through the "Company Search" tab on the DGI electronic platform, or via the commercial register number on the www.ice.gov.ma website. For their part, the tax services will constantly check the compliance of all the elements they receive from the taxpayers.
