Morocco Tightens Import Controls on Industrial Products, Including Auto Parts and Electronics

A new procedure for the control of industrial products at import has been in force since June 20, immediately after the expiration of the transition period, put in place since February 1 due to the state of health emergency.
The press release from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Green Economy specifies that importers are required to submit industrial products subject to normative control to evaluation at the Moroccan border posts.
The new system concerns automotive spare parts, construction products, wood panels, gas heating appliances and gas water heaters.
The control also applies to wire rod and reinforcing steel, clothing items except workwear, mobile phone chargers, circuit breakers, blankets, carpets, carpets, upholstery fabrics and baby diapers.
Other industrial products concerned must be submitted to the conformity check in the countries of dispatch. If necessary, operators will be authorized to carry out the control in Morocco on presentation of an affidavit with the import file created on PortNet.
