Morocco’s Telecom Regulator Sets 4-Year Plan, Eyes 5G Rollout

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) has defined new priorities for the telecoms sector for the next four years. This is the essence of the latest session of the agency’s board of directors.
Consolidation of the economic model, new strategic orientations, 5G... These are among the new priorities of the telecoms sector. The ANRT looked at the need to capitalize on the sector’s economic model during the latest session of its board of directors, reports the newspaper Les Inspirations Eco. This model has reached maturity with a mobile penetration rate estimated at 127%, one of the highest in the world, according to the same source.
At this meeting, it was said that the ANRT is working to finalize the new roadmap for the sector. This roadmap will serve as a guide for addressing the challenges facing the sector. It also aims to generalize access to high-speed telecommunications services to the entire population within 10 years.
The analysis of the progress in implementing the decisions of the previous sessions of the board of directors, as well as the examination of proposals for general orientations of the sector by 2023, taking into account the challenges and changes facing the sector marked by the "dataization" of services, were also discussed during the meeting.
